OH MY GOODNESS! That is just one of the phrases along with finding yourself absolute speechless that goes into hearing this singer for the very first time. Upon discovering this artist because of a cover, immediately, you begin to peel back the layers of the other talented artist to seek out the song. As luck would have it, there is in fact a full length song and it’s something to behold.
Jamie Miller is a Welsh born pop, R & B, and electronic genre belting singer. From his catalog, it’s abundantly clear that he has a passion for creating what we are all thinking but too afraid to express, or just not all the way clear and so leading to many relatable misunderstandings. Prior to his stardom, he was on the hit show The Voice, where he scored a bronze medal, but went on to go on to be a powerhouse vocalist, winning hearts across the map.
"Maybe Next Time," is a one of a kind, truly one of those gems you keep to yourself. It’s a phenomenal song with a simple yet striking melody, complete with lyrics that dare one could say, speak to both the person it’s about and yourself. The song beautifully details a heartbroken, melancholy person who gives themself the acknowledgement in a sorrowful way, that maybe next time they will be enough for someone to reciprocate the affections they once gave to another. The acoustic version of this is just as amazing. James somehow transports you back to visualizing those memories as if they happened yesterday or in real time. The evidence of this comes from the first time you hear the piano not compete with but complement the lyrics. It’s evident that every component in this song is special and drives home the message very smoothly.
His breakout album "Broken Memories" which came out two years ago, carries all of these very “put your money where your mouth is” accolades. With songs like "Last Call," "Here’s Your Perfect" as well as "I Lost Myself In Losing You," which gives him the necessary room to carve out his own path, while at the same time has vibes that are reminiscent of Jessie McCartney, Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth with the dreamy boy on the poster influence and aesthetically pleasing vocals.
Summarizing this piece just would not do this vocalist justice, as you will just have to listen to his voice yourself to understand the people that have come to the same conclusion. But because compelled to do so, James is just the kind of singer that is missing from today’s music. His sound makes it comfortable for everyday people without a huge following to walk up to a mic and sing their hearts out, allowing for the more raw and uncut versions of music that we all grew up with, to truly take center stage and become alive again without fear of judgment. You won’t go wrong if you give this artist a try.
