Hawks Wrestling Has Strong Showing at MCCAA

The Henry Ford College Hawks Wrestling team started the first few weeks of the new year with two tournaments. The first was the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Championships, and the second was the Alma Open.

The MCCAA Championship tournament featured Henry Ford College, Ancilla College, Muskegon Community College and St. Clair County Community College in a bracket format.

The Hawks took third overall, and the individual standings were impressive as well. In the 125 lbs division, Hunter Lajiness took second. In the 141 lbs division, Santos Alvarez took second. In the 149 lbs division, Martin Bustos took third. In the 157 lbs division, Mike Bermooser took second. In the 174 lbs division, Dominic Mancina took first and in the 285 lbs division, Devlen Kuschel took fourth.

Muskegon ended up taking first in the tournament followed by Ancilla, HFC and St. Clair County.

​At the Alma College Open, the Hawks ranked in the individual standings. In the 125 lbs division, Hunter Lajiness took third. In the 157 lbs division, Mike Bermooser took sixth and in the 174 lbs division, Dominic Mancina took fourth.

​Hawks wrestling will next compete at the Harper Open, Laker Classic and Hawkster Duals.
