Career Corner - Dress For Success

Hello HFC students, faculty, and staff! Welcome to another great year at Henry Ford College. My name is Chad Austin and I am the Career Services Officer here. I wanted to take a minute and thank the Mirror News team for allowing myself and other members of the Career Services Office to write in a regular column. We are excited to be able to bring all of you some great, and hopefully timely, information about what is happening with the Career Services Office this year and what various opportunities we can provide you.

To kick off this year we wanted to let you know about a new initiative that our office is coordinating this year. Our Suit Up program is a new service we are providing students for the next month. The program is simple. If any of you students out there need some help getting together a professional outfit in preparation for an upcoming interview or our Career Expo (details in a future column), just stop by the Career Services Office (A-113, Main floor). The Career Services Office staff will go through our inventory of clothing, all donated by HFC faculty and staff, with you and help you come up with an outfit that is professional and free of charge. If our inventory does not contain something in your size or that works for you we will refer you to various locations close to campus that can help you put together your professional look. We want all of our students looking their best this year as we work to bring employers to campus! Open hours for the Suit Up program are Fridays from 10:00-12:00. We will also schedule appointments for assistance throughout the week. If you have any questions or would like to donate to the Suit Up program don’t hesitate to contact the Career Services Office at 313-845-9618 or by email at careers@hfcc.edu.
