Welcome Back Days: Winter 2015

Loads of fun and games were had during Welcome Back Days at HFC. January 27th and 28th were two days dedicated to introducing Henry Ford College student’s to the various clubs and volunteer opportunities available.

First year student Dionne Edwards said, “I enjoyed finding out about volunteer activities and university requirements. I was encouraged to continue my education after I graduate from Henry Ford and the university representatives and Student Activities staff made me feel welcome.”

Many of the clubs and college sponsors got very creative in their endeavors to bring draw in new students. Enticements ranging from cakes and cookies, to yellow ducks and silver streamers were used to attract attention from students. Colleges and universities also donated prizes won by select students in order to spread the word about their admission requirements to the student population.

Below is a list of students and the prizes they won during the week’s activities.

Brian Kelly: A solar system calendar donated by the Ford Astronomy Club.

Mosab Hakous: station baseball cap donated by WHFR.

Hussein Saleh: lunch carrier and water bottle donated by the University of Detroit-Mercy.

Ciara Shonice Porter: lanyard donated by Eastern Michigan University.

Gerrell Prater: lanyard donated by Eastern Michigan University.

Xaire Hawthorne: t-shirt donated by the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Megan Seccombe: gift bag with a mug, a lunch bag, cappuccino, a mini notebook, and pens donated by Sienna Heights University.

Katelyn Cartagena: Assortment of chocolates, donated by Davenport University.

Hawra Al-Howaishy: flag and lanyard donated by Eastern Michigan University.

Dominique Nixon: travel mug donated by the Friends of the Rouge.
