Students of the Month

While walking across campus you may have noticed students on the television screens, and their photographs in the glass case in the M-building. These are the faces of the students of the month. But what exactly is student of the month? According to Michele M. Featherston, the Student Activities Secretary, the student of the month is a student who demonstrates leadership and a strong desire to get involved. "We are looking for students who are positive role models, that encourage students to get involved in activities, and that promotes student life."

In January 2015, both Mounira Almadrahi, the Novembers 2014 Student of the Month and Sulian Larmond, the December 2014 Student of the Month were acknowledged for their hard work and involvement in school activities.

If you are wondering how to make it to HFC's top list of students, take a second to read about how Mounira and Sulian did it.

Mounira is 17 and she is part of the Henry Ford Early College Program. Though still deciding her major, she has an interest in pre-med and business. Although she is still technically considered a senior in high school, she is a full time college student here at Henry Ford. While transitioning from high school to college, Mounira has immersed herself in clubs and activities to get the full college experience; she is also a dedicated member of Phi Theta Kappa and Amnesty International. What set her apart from other candidates for student of the month was her ability to go above and beyond, helping organize events such as the Student International Mixer as well as the International Thanksgiving Dinner.

Sulian Larmond is a Student Ambassador and the President of the HFC Christian Club. She is a driven and passionate student who is looked up to and depended on by her fellow students and co-workers. Sulian helps organize weekly bible studies and outlook projects. She also serves as the public relations officer and historian for Phi Theta Kappa. She is a great role model and works with prospective students to enroll and join the HFC community.

These are two great examples of students who have surpassed student expectation. Their hard work and dedication to their student activities has earned them the title of Student of the Month. Great job ladies, keep up the good work!
