Superfruits of Today

With the new year arriving, resolutions for better eating may be on the docket for some. Different foods can boost energy, maximize wellness and create an overall better sense of health within the individual. Some food items that can help with such are “superfruits”, which include a wide variety of fruits that can be found at most supermarkets or specialty stores.

The fruits that are considered super include those that “are packed with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals, and other nutrients that can help you live longer, look better, and even prevent disease” (health.com). All in all, these should be the focus in most diets to allow for as much healthy eating as possible.

The list of superfruits includes apples for example, along with avocados, concord grapes and blueberries (health.com). Furthermore, avocados are another health food that are “packed with monounsaturated fat and fatty acids” and “can help lower LDL (bad cholesterol) levels while raising the amount of good cholesterol in your body” (huffingtonpost.com). They can also help with the absorption of carotenoids like lycopene and beta-carotene which are significant when considering heart health (huffingotnpost.com).

Additionally, concord grapes and blueberries both have “anthocyanins that give these fruits their distinctive colors” (healthcastle.com). Heart disease can be avoided through such due to the fact that they prevent clot formation. The risk of cancer may also be lowered by consuming these foods (healthcaste.com).

All these foods can help to promote better health, although with most dietary plans, it takes some planning and moderation every day. A wide variety of nutrients and minerals are offered through these superfruits, allowing for wellness to become a tangible goal. With all that these have to give towards a sense of healthiness, a possibly better 2015 may be ahead.
