Henry Ford Early College Moves to HFC With Official Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Henry Ford College (HFC) celebrates Henry Ford Early College’s (HFEC) move from the Berry Career Center in Dearborn Heights to the main campus with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

HFEC is a partnership between HFC, Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) in coordination with Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) and the State Board of Education. It is one of six “middle college” high schools that was announced in 2006 and funded by state grants. HFEC successfully launched in 2007.

The first HFEC class graduated in 2012. In addition to having gotten a head start on their college careers, HFEC alumni have been accepted at major 4-year colleges and universities, including the University of Michigan (U-M), University of Michigan-Dearborn (U-M Dearborn), Michigan State University (MSU), Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University (EMU), Central Michigan University (CMU), Ohio University, even DePaul University in Chicago.

“The goal of HFEC was to help students who might not have been able to attend college get some practical real-world experience during high school and earn some college credits. Many of them are graduating with plenty of college credits, while others have graduated with an associate’s degree, giving them a leg up on many of their peers. They should be very proud of the work they’ve accomplished here. And as president of the College, I’m proud to be associated with them,” said HFC President Dr. Stanley Jensen.
