Team HFCC has contributed over $25,000.00 since our team was formed in 1999. This is a collaborative effort that was made possible by individual donations and team events. Relay for Life is an event that is best explained by personal experience. Individual teams come together to raise money, promote awareness, and help support cancer survivors and their families. This requires months of planning and volunteer hours. I got involved because many family members and friends have lost their battle with cancer. However; it is important to note that many family and friends are survivors. I am a firm believer in HOPE so I continue to support this community effort.
Relay for Life Dearborn starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 and ends on Sunday, April 29, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn. This 24 hour event is a community celebration that includes entertainment, group activities, sales of food and other items, and promotion of services that are available to cancer patients and their families. Two highlights of the event are the opening ceremony and walk that is led by cancer survivors and their caregivers, and the luminary ceremony that takes place at sundown. If you are a cancer survivor, please contact me to receive a personal invitation to the reception for cancer survivors and kick off festivities.
If you would like to help with planning and volunteer the day of the event or take part in the celebration for cancer survivors, please contact me at 313.845.9865 or email mfeather@hfcc.edu.
