Sports - Students play it out in the Staff versus Student Basketball Game

On Friday, December 7, in the Athletic Memorial Building, Henry Ford Community College’s Student Council hosted the third annual Faculty/Staff versus Students Basketball Game.
The game took place with 17 student players and approximately 10 to 12 faculty/staff players. Prior to the game, all students were able to register as players by contacting Hadi Abbas. HFCC staff and faculty members contacted English professors Adam Hazlett and Scott Still to reserve a spot in the game.
The game ended with the student team winning with 47 points and the faculty and staff coming close with 39. With this win, students have won 2 games of the 3 played against staff and faculty. One student win was in 2010 and the other this year. Faculty/staff won the basketball game in the fall semester of 2011.
“The purpose of the game is to help students and school faculty/staff relax before finals week and also to bridge the gap between the student body and teachers at Henry Ford Community College, said Hadi Abbas, Interim Chair of Student Council. “Student Council decided one way to accomplish this is to do something that the students and faculty/staff can have fun doing.”
