News - Campus Beautification Project

If you are a full-time student, you probably find yourself spending countless hours on campus. In an effort to brighten your days at Henry Ford Community College the staff council has put together a project called the Campus Beautification Project. Staff council is made up of HFCC faculty and staff members who meet to discuss and take action on issues to make our campus run to the best of its ability.
Every year, usually around June, the staff council organizes a time to plant flowers and then brainstorms the perfect place to plant. According to Patti Sellers, who works on this project each year, they try to choose a populated area on campus that could some brightening up. This project is funded by campus administration who usually purchase a few hundred flats of flowers per year.
Before the planting begins, they make sure to include as many people as possible in the process. HFCC staff and students are invited to join the planting festivities and volunteer their time. This is especially helpful to honors students and other students who need community service hours.
I know you’re looking forward to next June to see where these flowers will pop up, but in the mean time, lets say a big “thank you” to the staff council for their time and effort in making Henry Ford Community College a brighter place for us to brighten our futures through education.
