It’s only the beginning of November but as usual in the retail world, everything is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Stores are turning into winter wonderlands, putting trees and holiday decorations on display, and marking down prices on everything from electronics to toys. Superstores Kmart and Wal-Mart are even offering layaway so that consumers will be able to save enough cash to buy the perfect gifts for Christmas.
Not only are stores preparing their merchandise for the holiday season, they’re also looking for extra help to get them through the crazy holiday shopping season. Over the next month, retailers around Metro Detroit are hiring seasonal workers, mostly for sales and customer service positions. The National Retail Federation predicts that over 800 seasonal jobs will be created this season, giving potential employees a greater chance of landing a job for the long run.
