Upcoming Student Council Elections

When we think about fall, we picture leaves changing colors, football games, hoodies and blankets, and especially this year, Election Day. The presidential election is not the only form of politics happening this fall; there will also be an election held on campus.
Student council is recruiting nine new members for the 2012-13 school year. Before considering running for the council, you must meet the qualifications of the Student Council Advisory Board. The qualifications are:
1.Candidates must be taking at least six credits a semester while serving on the student council.
2.Candidates must have a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA.
3. A candidate cannot be a member of the Mirror News, the Student Newspaper Board, the College Board of Trustees, the College Alumni Association Board, or the College Foundation Board.
The Advisory Board must approve candidates. If you meet the four requirements, the next step is to fill out an application. You can pick one up from Lisa Jones-Harris, the vice president of student affairs. Her office is located in the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services and Conference Center, room 403. All applications must be submitted to room 403 by October 17, no later than 4 pm.
After applications are received, the Student Council Advisory Board will review them and officially announce who will be running in the election on October 22. Candidates will have two weeks to create their campaigns and win over voters. Election days will take place on November 5 through 9 via an online service.
