Imagine The Possibilities

The Counseling Division will present the 7th Annual Non Traditional Careers in Technology for Women Seminar, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in the Ghafari Conference Room in the Patterson Technology Building. “The Non Trads Seminar is an excellent opportunity to educate current students and introduce prospective students, as well as the greater community, about the non-traditional fields of study available to women at HFCC,” says Diane Green, who oversees the event.
The Seminar will begin at 7:30 a.m. with registration and continental breakfast. Lead Faculty presentations and demonstrations will start at 8:30 a.m. , proceeded by a brief Welcome by the Associate Dean of Counseling. Programs highlighted this year will include Computer Information Systems; Criminal Justice; Manufacturing Productivity Systems; Hospitality; Architecture/Construction Technology; Energy Technology; and Industrial Drafting. Seminar participants will also be introduced to support services available through Student Outreach & Support and the Job Placement offices.
According to Green, the speakers will open up a dialogue with the audience as well as provide lab observation experiences. The presentations will also afford participants an opportunity to ask questions. “As indicated by our program, HFCC offers many non-traditional areas of study in which women are pursuing their degrees and anticipating careers in high demand areas of work that pay well,” Green said.
The day’s activities will culminate with lunch and a raffle. Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome. However, people are encouraged to pre-register by contacting Brenda Redinger at (313)845-0617 or via email at bredinger@hfcc.edu.
