HFCC Men’s Basketball Team Finishes Third, Three Players Honored

The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) has honored three members of the HFCC Men’s Basketball Team in the post-season. The three honorees are:

Kyle Baker of Ann Arbor. An alumnus of Ann Arbor Huron High School, Baker, a freshman, has been named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

James Still of Detroit. An alumnus of Detroit Community High School, Still, a sophomore, has been named All-Region, All-MCCAA and First Team All-Conference. He has also been named All-Defensive Team.

Grant Stone of Canton. An alumnus of Salem High School, Stone, a sophomore, has been named Second Team All-Conference.
“We had no returning players this year, which made for a very unique situation. We are looking forward to next year. In fact, we’ve already started recruiting,” said Abe Mashhour, who has coached the basketball team for 17 years.
The Hawks’ overall record this season was 11-7 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference, where they finished in third place, and 20-10 overall.
“We’re very proud of the men’s basketball team, particularly the three athletes who received honors, and look forward to watching the Hawks achieve their potential next season,” said Rochelle Taylor, HFCC athletic director.
The HFCC Women’s Basketball Team finished with an overall record of 6 - 21. “This season is an improvement over the previous year,” said Taylor. “This indicates that we are building our program, and we look forward to success next season.”
