Religion, Conflict and Peace Conference ‘Sharing Creative Expression Hour’

On March 24th, the Religion, Conflict and Peace Conference will be holding a Sharing Creative Expression hour from 7:30 - 8:30pm during which performances/readings will be held. From 8:30 - 9pm, there will be an open mic session where attendees will be invited to share their own thoughts/work.

We are requesting art of any form: paintings, digital illustrations, sculptures, short plays, dances, songs, and videos. Poetry and prose are also welcome, as are creations of any other medium.

Students should endeavor to illustrate how their cultural experiences (whether religious in nature or not) have crafted their own views and interactions with other members of a worldwide community. To emphasize, these submissions do not have to revolve specifically around religion--submissions should focus on the concepts of identity, community, compassion, ethics, philosophy, sociology, and anything related.

For those who wish to find out if their idea is appropriate for the theme, they may visit the Common Bond Institute website www.cbiworld.org

Students should email Madalina Miron at cbiworldart@gmail.com with their ideas in advance. For text-based works such as plays, articles, short stories, poems, and songs, it is requested that the transcripts be sent to this address by the due date for submissions; digital works should be emailed to me and for physical objects, they must be dropped off on March 16th. Applicants will be informed of the drop-off location once it is determined.

The due date for applications is March 14 and submissions will be due March 16. Submissions must be picked up at the end of the conference between 12 and 3pm on March 25th. Between these dates, a jury will decide which works will be accepted based on appropriateness and quality. Not all works will be accepted and if rejected, they must be picked up between Tuesday and Thursday (March 20-23).

There is an option for students to sell their works and if they choose to do so, they must specify in writing within their email to cbiworldart@gmail.com.
