‘Big Band & Chicago’ Concert Set for Jan. 28

HFCC will present a ‘Big Band & Chicago’ concert Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at 8 p.m. at the Michael A. Guido Theater--Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, located at 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.
The concert will feature HFCC’s internationally acclaimed Henry Ford Big Band, as well as Midnight Blue, HFCC’s top vocal jazz ensemble. This event will feature music from the swing era to present day, including hits by the band Chicago. The Big Band will perform hits made famous by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, as well as big band arrangements of the rock group Chicago. Midnight Blue, directed by Kevin Dewey, HFCC director of vocal music, will sing with the Henry Ford Big Band and perform many well-known hits.
Midnight Blue and the Henry Ford Big Band are just two of nine performing ensembles at HFCC. Some 250 musicians take part in HFCC performance groups each year and perform locally, nationally and internationally.
The concert is a prelude to HFCC’s annual President’s Collage Concert, which is Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, featuring all 250 of HFCC’s vocalists and instrumentalists.
