‘All-American Muslim’ Features HFCC Alumna

Nawal Aoude, an alumna of Henry Ford Community College, is spotlighted on All-American Muslim, which airs Sunday at 10 p.m. on TLC.
All-American Muslim is a reality television series that chronicles the events in the lives of five Arab-American families in Dearborn, the city with the highest number of people of Arabic descent in the United States. The show reflects the Arab-American community’s diversity and wants to debunk stereotypes surrounding their culture.
Aoude’s story arc centers on her and her husband, Nader, a federal agent. The couple is expecting their first baby (she gave birth to a baby boy), which was the focus on the first episode.
“The reality show is not to demean or make us feel bad about being who we are as people or as Muslims. The whole point of doing this is to bring out what Muslims are. We want to set good examples, show that we are still traditional but that we are Americans too,” Aoude stated in an interview with the Detroit Free Press.
