Non-Traditional Careers in Technology for Women Seminar

Henry Ford Community College will soon host another informative event related to employment and potential career opportunities. The Non-Traditional Careers in Technology for Women seminar will take place on November 7, from 7:30 a.m. (when registration, including a free continental breakfast, will take place) until 1:00 p.m. in the Fifty One O' One Restaurant. Participants will receive a free lunch, and door prizes will be given at the end of the seminar.

Speakers Kim Mascardelli, Catherine Duling, and Greg Osowski will each focus on one of three programs: Computer Science, Culinary Arts and Criminal Justice, respectively. In addition, Chad Austin (Job Placement) and Brenda Hildreth (Student Outreach & Support) will discuss opportunities and significant information in their areas of expertise.

While this seminar—along with the same event for men, which takes place during the winter semester—is now held regularly at the college, according to Diane Green, Associate Dean of Counseling, Assisted learning Services, and Student Outreach & Support, the format for this particular event will be different than in past years.

“We are devoting more time to fewer areas of technology to allow greater exchange between the presenters and the participants,” said Green, one of the primary coordinators of the event. “It is hoped that participants will find this format more informative, educational and enriching. As in previous years, our goal is to introduce students to career and technical education areas that afford exceptional training and the potential to secure jobs that are in areas of high demand.”

The following are the times of the specific presentations:

7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Registration & Free Continental Breakfast
