Conquering Fears

The average dictionary definition of fear is a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, fear, or pain. We all have fears and eventually there is a time in one's life that it is time to overcome any fear a person may have. This past summer I overcame my fear of riding roller coasters. I went to Cedar Point with a few friends and of course the first roller coaster we went on was one of the biggest roller coasters, The Raptor which I would describe as a green monster. Now when I got in line I was absolutely terrified and I had so many butterfly's in my stomach that I was tempted to just back out but I didn't. We made it to the front of the line and got in, I started shaking like a leaf and I kept my eyes closed the whole ride but it ended up being such an exhilarating ride that when it was over I wanted to go again. Now when overcoming a fear no matter what it may be there are a few rules to follow (at least one's that I think are good to follow). First you must go in with a positive attitude and do not say anything negative about it, second try doing whatever it may be (such as bunging jumping, swimming with sharks, or even climbing a mountain.) go in with a support system such as friends and family who will be there for you and not look down on it, last but certainly not least just do just like Thomas the take engine would do and say, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!” Now if you follow if you follow these three simple rules you will easily overcome any fear you may have and maybe even one day you will become fearless.
