Sisson Gallery Artwork Displays

HFCC's Sisson Art Gallery announced its schedule of art displays for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The gallery presents three shows by professional artists during the fall semester. The fall 2011 semester closes with a one-week 'exit exhibition' devoted to the work of graduating students. The winter 2012 semester features a similar exhibition devoted to students who have finished their studies during this time. This exhibition is followed by the annual all-student exhibition. In the winter 2012 semester, the gallery offers a longer run of a professional artist's exhibition.
During the exhibition weeks, the gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Friday, the gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The following is the 2011-2012 schedule of exhibitions.
'Alma College 30th Annual Statewide Print Competition' began Aug. 25 and runs until Thursday, Sept. 22. This juried exhibition showcases some of the best printmaking that Michigan has to offer. A reception takes place Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m.
'Gumption and Gunpowder' runs from Monday, Oct. 3, to Thursday, Nov. 23. This exhibition features the work of contemporary artist Dave Wisniewski of Toledo, Ohio. His expressive paintings demonstrate a history of the American Old West as it has rarely been seen before. A reception is Oct. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
'Henry Ford Community College Fall Graduating Art & Design Students' Exhibition' runs from Tuesday, Dec. 6, to Friday, Dec. 9. This exhibition spotlights the work of HFCC students who will complete certificates and/or degrees in Art Foundations, Ceramics, Graphic Design or Interior Design during the summer or fall of 2011. HFCC will hold a reception Dec. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Sisson Art Gallery is located near the main entrance of the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center building on the HFCC campus. For further information about these exhibitions, please contact Steve Glazer, director of Exhibitions at (313) 845-6485.
