National Publication Recognizes HFCC as One of Top 100 in Nation

HFCC recently received national recognition from Community College Week as one of the top 100 community colleges in the United States in awarding associate degrees to students. This report appeared June 16, 2011.
Each year, Community College Week releases a special report naming the top 100 degree producing two-year colleges based on U.S. Department of Education data. The top 100 listings name community colleges that have awarded the largest number of associate degrees in the year prior to the report’s publication date. The report also includes rankings of associate degree-granting programs as well as detailed rankings of specific program areas.
With approximately 1,700 community colleges nationwide, HFCC ranked in the top 100 for associate degrees awarded overall and in associate degrees conferred upon African Americans. HFCC also ranked among the top 50 associate degree-producing community colleges in the areas of Business and Management, Criminal Justice, Education, Nursing and Health Careers.
Dr. Gail Mee, president of HFCC, recently presented these rankings at the June 20, 2011, Board of Trustees meeting.
“Faculty, staff and leadership continue to work diligently to make our college accessible for everyone,” she explained, adding that those seeking a college education, “should be given every opportunity to work toward this achievement. We’re fortunate to have faculty and staff dedicated to helping all students succeed academically.”
