The Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) Music Department will present the 16th Annual President’s Collage Concert Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at 8 p.m. in the Michael A. Guido Theater at Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn.
The annual Collage Concert began in 1996 at the suggestion of Dr. Andrew Mazzara, then president of Henry Ford Community College. Dr. Gail Mee, HFCC’s current president, has continued the tradition of hosting this special evening, which celebrates the vibrant HFCC music program, the largest two-year program in Michigan. HFCC’s music directors bring together the College’s many choral and instrumental ensembles for a varied and exciting program. More than 250 performers will participate this year.
The first President’s Collage Concert was held at Edsel Ford High School in 1996. From 1997 to 2001, the concert was held at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. The Collage moved to its current home in 2002.
The following HFCC groups will perform at this year’s Collage Concert:
• two jazz bands--Studio 110 and the Henry Ford Big Band;
• two symphony bands--Metropolitan Symphony Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble;
• one percussion ensemble;
• two vocal jazz ensembles--Blue Fusion and Midnight Blue;
• one women’s choral ensemble--Renaissance Voices; and
• two mixed choirs--Concert Choir and Vanguard Voices.
HFCC music faculty members G. Kevin Dewey, Rick L. Goward and Randall L. Knight will direct groups.
