Amnesty International Club News

Yes, a new semester and new activities are coming. Amnesty International has returned for its second semester, and this semester is full of new opportunities.

After another successful “Welcome Back Days,” we are pleased to have new members joining our group. This semester AI-HFCC has set up different events that will, hopefully, increase human rights awareness.

We are actually getting in touch with our sister chapter at the University of Michigan – Dearborn, which will give us a chance to gain some new ideas that we can implement on the HFCC campus.

We are also making new alliances with other student clubs at HFCC. So far, we are gaining support from the Criminal Justice Club, the Student Environmental Association, the Film Club, and Team HFCC. This gives us more room to expand our cause and to be able to help other clubs, as well as our own.

Some big events that we will be a part of this semester include a conference at the University of Michigan – Dearborn in February for most Amnesty International groups. The Student Environmental Association will be hosting Earth Stock 2011, which is a great day full of music, fun and environmental love in April. Also, don’t forget Relay for Life at the Ford Performing Arts Center, where Team HFCC will be one of many teams coming out to raise money for cancer research at the end of April.

So, with all of these exciting activities coming up there is a lot to do, and we can always use a helping hand.

If anyone would like to join Amnesty international, our meetings are every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Activities Center, room C-113.

We hope to see you there!
