HFCC Presents: The Secret Garden

Opening November 12 at the Adray Auditorium in the MacKenzie Fine Arts Center on the campus of Henry Ford Community College is The Secret Garden, based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett and presented by the Theatre for Young Audiences.

The tale is a story of innocence that focuses on characters Mary and Colin who find life blossoming around them in a beautiful garden. Both sour and selfish to start, the garden changes their outlook on life, and ultimately makes them value what they have.

The Secret Garden is directed by Judy Fletcher, a theatre teacher at HFCC who also oversees the Costume Department. In fact, Fletcher has won awards for her costume and make up designs, and has also directed shows, such as To Kill a Mockingbird in 2007.

The technical director of The Secret Garden is Gerald Dzuiblinski, who has been involved with several shows presented by the Theatre for Young Audiences, including A Christmas Carol and Pinocchio.

The Secret Garden will be presented Fridays at 7:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. through December 5. The only weekend it will not be presented is that of Thanksgiving. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students with ID, $6 for children 12-and- under, and $5 per seat for groups of ten or more.

Those interested in winning free tickets to The Secret Garden can do so by listening to HFCC’s radio station, WHFR (89.3FM and www.whfr.fm), and calling in when prompted, or by sending an e-mail to editor@hfcc.edu. The Mirror News is giving away one pair of tickets for each show, which will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
